Direct WordPress Integration: Enable Better Control Over Internal Links

Background:

I am running a self-hosted (Bluehost) WordPress site (v6.3) with 138 published posts and 63 drafts. I use separate XML sitemaps for posts and categories:

My permalink structure follows the standard WordPress post name format, like https://rthidden.com/sample-post/.

The Issue:

Currently, only the post sitemap works with your system. When internal links are generated, they often incorrectly link to category archive pages rather than relevant posts.

For example, in a recent post the anchor text "increased productivity" linked to the category https://rthidden.com/category/productivity/ instead of an applicable post.

I have no way to control or customize how internal links are generated.

The Ask:

  1. Build direct WordPress integration to fully support WordPress sites. This would allow utilizing category sitemaps and custom post types.

  2. Provide more control over internal link generation:

  • Limit number of internal links per article

  • Focus links on certain categories

  • Link to relevant posts, not just categories

  • Customize anchor text (only if the AI can not do it correctly)

  1. Please add settings to customize how internal links are created. This will allow optimal SEO and user experience.

My Workflow:

I use LinkWhisper for manual internal linking and RankMath for focus keywords. But I have no way to tailor how automated internal links are generated.

Having WordPress integration along with control over anchor text and limiting links to relevant posts rather than generic categories would improve quality and optimization.

Please let me know if any additional technical details would be helpful. I'm happy to provide more context to get this implemented. Thank you for considering!
